SNTP server development

A Japanese vehicle component production and distribution facility required an SNTP server which supports RFC 4330 and RFC 5905. The SNTP Server would function as a primary server with the time held by OS as the reference clock.

Alumnus developed the SNTPv4 server from scratch with was compatible with RFC 4330 and RFC 5905. It could function as a Unicast, Broadcast and Manycast server. The server is capable of communicating with both NTP and SNTP clients. It is backward compatible and can respond to SNTPv3 requests. Both Era 0 and Era 1 dates are supported by the SNTP server and handles the timestamp wrapping in Era 1.

Alumnus’ solution helped the customer to get the diagnostic data and for synchronising the ECUs in the vehicle.
